I. Scope
This policy applies to undergraduate students enrolled at George Mason University (“Mason”).
II. Policy Statement
All undergraduate students must complete the trainings listed in Appendix A as part of Orientation Programming before or during their first semester enrolled in classes at Mason.
III. Definitions
Orientation Programming: all programing run by the University for new students to welcome and prepare them for attending Mason, including but not limited to Patriot Preview, Preamble, and online trainings.
IV. Compliance
Failure to complete the required trainings by the end a student’s first semester enrolled in classes at Mason may result in a hold being placed on the student’s account and any other step deemed appropriate by the University.
The Vice-President of University Life or designee has the authority to add or remove trainings from Appendix A, subject to statutory requirements. University Life shall work with other University departments to identify topics for required trainings and to develop the trainings.
V. Dates
A. Effective Date:
This policy will become effective upon the date of approval by the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration and the Provost and Executive Vice President.

VI. Timetable for Review
This policy shall be reviewed every two years, or more frequently as needed.
