Release of Paychecks

I. SCOPE

This policy applies to all George Mason University employees at all locations.

II. POLICY STATEMENT

Payroll checks will be available for pickup by employees, with proper identification such as a photo ID, at the front desk in Human Resources and Payroll, fourth floor, University Hall, Monday through Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and Fridays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  For security purposes, anyone other than the check designee who is picking up a paycheck must have a signed release.  Payroll checks will not be delivered to other University locations.

Administrative Policy 2201 mandates direct deposit for all employees hired or rehired on or before February 1, 2002.

III. RESPONSIBILITIES

Human Resources and Payroll will be responsible for providing employees information about direct deposit requirements and procedures.

IV. EFFECTIVE DATE AND APPROVAL

This policy is effective June 7, 2004.  This policy shall be reviewed and revised, if necessary, annually to become effective at the beginning of the University’s fiscal year, unless otherwise noted.
